INS Orthotics Limited Champions Accessible Healthcare at National Strategic Plan Launch

KAMPALA, UGANDA — On May 22, 2026, the Ministry of Health headquarters became a hub of innovation and hope as the Government of Uganda officially launched the National Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Strategic Plan (2025–2030). Under the theme “Advancing Equitable Access to Quality Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Services for All in Uganda,” the event marked a historic shift toward integrating these essential services into the national health framework.

Among the prominent stakeholders was INS Orthotics Limited (INSOL), a leading provider of orthopedic and physiotherapy appliances. The launch was officiated by Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health. She emphasized that rehabilitation is no longer a peripheral service but a core component of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

“The Ministry of Health… seeks to leave no one behind by prioritizing the provision of quality rehabilitation and assistive technology services across the health system,” Dr. Atwine stated.

At the event, the INS Orthotics Limited exhibition showcased the practical tools that turn strategic goals into lived reality.

• Demonstrating Impact: INSOL staff engaged with attendees to demonstrate specialized equipment, including mobility aids and orthopedic supports designed for diverse needs.
• Local Expertise: Celebrating over a decade of service, INSOL highlighted its commitment to local manufacturing, which reduces wait times and supports the Ugandan economy while meeting international best practices.
• Product Range: The showcase included a variety of assistive devices, such as:
  • Mobility Aids: Axillary and elbow crutches and wheelchairs.
  • Orthopedic Supports: TLSO full back braces, AFO foot-drop braces, and femur braces.

Strengthening the National Framework

The Strategic Plan 2025-2030, developed with support from partners like WHO and USAID (ReLAB-HS), aims to:

1. Strengthen Governance: Establish a dedicated Department of Rehabilitation and Assistive Technologies at the MoH headquarters.
2. Improve Data Integration: Incorporate rehabilitation data into the national District Health Information Software (DHIS2) to inform better decision-making.
3. Expand Reach: Move from a “charity-based” to a “rights-based” approach, ensuring services reach underserved communities.
